LA and San Diego

LA and San Diego

Another tire mishap!!  Just as we pulled into our spot in Chino, CA I heard a hissing sound coming from one of our new trailer tires.  We checked it out and somewhere along the way we had picked up a screw.

We had to jack the trailer up and take the tire off.  We took it into a shop and they told us that because the puncture was on the very edge of the tire, it was not repairable.  So we had to get rid of one of our brand new tires and buy another one to replace it.  We ended up buying 3 tires there so now our trailer is all set with all brand new tires and a new spare in the back as well.

Hopefully our trouble with tires is over for now!

We stayed about 40 minutes outside of Los Angeles at Pedro county park in Chino, CA.  We decided to take a trip into LA to visit the Pacific Ocean and also see the Hollywood sign.  It was a bust!  The traffic was absolutely terrible and it took us over two hours to get to our destination in Malibu.  We went to El Matador beach, and although it was very beautiful, it was not worth the two hour drive.

By the time we were done our picnic and heading back into see the Hollywood sign, it was dark, so we never did get to see it.

We celebrated Haydn’s birthday while we were here as well.  My baby is 8!!!

Our next stop in California was just outside of San Diego.  Our good friends live here, so we planned to stay in the area for two weeks and spend some time visiting them.

Most of our evenings were spent just hanging out and catching up, but we did go and see a couple of San Diego’s amazing sights while we were there. San Diego is a pretty expensive place, so we were trying to find things to do that didn’t cost much money.  One of the coolest things to go see if you are ever in San Diego is the seals at La Jolla.  There is a small cove that seals and sea lions come to when they are going to have their pups.  The beach is just full of momma and baby seals relaxing in the sun and swimming in the ocean.

There was another area of the beach that you could go down to and swim or play on the beach.  We spent an hour or two playing in the sand and water with our friends.  We had so much fun watching the seals, and playing in the water!

We also drove to Cabrillo National Monument to spend a day with our friends exploring the tidal pools.  The coast was beautiful and there were so many interesting little ocean creatures we got to see.

We saw a lobster, huge sea slugs, crabs, and sea anemones.  We stopped in at Pizza Port for some tasty pizza after our day of exploring the ocean.
